Dearest JOaquin,
I didn't notice that you've turned 2 years and 8 months! Mama's been really busy with school and I'm really sorry for not spending enough time. But do you know that even if Mama is so exhausted, one hug from you is more than enough. Mama gets recharged and ready to face the world head-on.
Today, you sang the 'Lupang Hinirang', some verse were incomprehensible but your passion was undeniable. Papa and I kept on laughing at how cute you are while you are!
Another striking thing you do is your love for cleaning! You just want to wipe and wipe and wipe! You almost emptied out the packs of wipes because you were cleaning the tables, chairs, and doors. Lol. You also take off your own diapers, and you are almost there in learning to take off your own clothes. Bravo anak!
We are so proud at how smart you have become!

I've practiced countless of times. I prepared hard. I checked and re-checked everything.... But it was a failure. No amount of words can comfort me. It was a disaster. My heart is broken. Please just let me pass.

30 ainT so bAd!
Yes! The big 3-0!
My day started at 12:01 am...
Hubby and Joaquin surprised me with a birthday cake! How sweet! Yes I have a manual in my hand since I was studying for the midterms! Yey what a way to celebrate the day -- answering massive pages of examination. lol.
Then when I got in class, I got a surprise as well!
A simple dinner celebration then followed at my in-laws' place with selected closest friends and relatives. See, 30 aint so bad after all :)

My barkada!
Then after hearing mass, hubby treated me to a dinner date, of course with Joaquin, at Momo's Eastwood.

TeTchiE and PriscY
After almost 6 years, Tetchie, Priscy, and I were finally reunited. She didn't know it, but I cried after seeing her at Coffebean. I cried because I truly missed her. I can say that she is my true bestest friend. Never did she judge me for all my adventures (do I have one?? lol), and she was always there with a shoulder to cry on.
The same goes for Priscy, her hug was one of the most sincerest I had in my 30years of existence. I'm just so sad that I wasn't able to spend time her more, since our tight schedules didn't permit.
And it was the first time Tetchie and Priscy, saw Joaquin!
And they instantly fell in love with him :)

MidTeRmS. InvEnToRy. YaYa-Less
I should be studying for the midterms, but I just can't. It's not because I don't want to, but circumstances make it difficult for me to do so.
Year end inventory just ended, so it means the month of January is solely dedicated to encoding of all entries. While most of my classmates are still out on vacation, I'm in the office heading the inventory input. I am not jealous of them getting the vacation, but this is how my world works, and I am thankful to be entrusted with this huge responsibility.
And just when I have made my game plan, my dear trusted yaya left without a trace. Yes, she just disappeared one early morning leaving Joaquin behind. I don't know of her reasons, but it surely came as a surprise and of all days... during my upcoming midterms and encoding week. Geesh, her timing couldn't be more perfect. Grrrr....
But as my SIL (sister-in-law) said, I can do it. Why? Because I am the MOM! I am the light of the house! I am WOMAN, hear me roar! (lol! I think I've gone bananas).
I am only allowed 5 minutes of self-pity, then I am done. And now, I have to change my game plan.
Off to go yaya-hunting, encoding, and hopefully reviewing for the midterms.
But really, if anyone can do it, it should be us Moms, especially if it concerns our family... our precious little bundles. Cheers to Mommy-power!

Hubby bought me an early birthday gift! Actually he says it is already a combo gift for 3 birthdays and anniversaries and Christmas. lol.
Really needed a laptop ever since ours were taken without permission (a.k.a. ninakaw). Hubby vowed to buy me one, but I wasn't in a rush since I know we need to prioritize the expenses plus I can manage doing reports and assignments buy borrowing his. Apparently, he can't stand me borrowing his laptop and downloading sites that are risky (a.k.a. na-virus na dahil sa kn). And since my birthday is nearing, he opted to buy me an early gift.
Now I can...
1. do all costing assignments
2. do all food presentations
3. do sales reports
4. do policies and memorandums
5. check my mails
6. update my blog! yipee!
Thanks hubby!!! Thanks for working hard for us to have a better life :) Halabshue!

Joaquin has this condition called Tongue-Tie. In many cases, surgery is not an immediate action but upon observing our little boy, we have noticed that he is encountering some speech articulation difficulty. Since this is the time wherein he is fast developing and expounding his vocabulary, we, his parents, feel it necessary that corrective actions be taken.
Through the help of Dr. Abelardo Lucas, Joaquin's surgery was a success!

Dearest Joaquin,
Today is the big day! The day of your surgery. I've never been this nervous in my life. You see anak, one of the pre-requisites is that you undergo 8 hours fasting, that was why we rushed you at 5:00am so that you won't be asking for your 'dede' (you usually ask it by 8:00). But miracle of all miracles, you woke at 5:30am, you asked where we are going, and Mama calmly explained what will happen and that if you ask for 'dede' I wont be able to give you one, and you know what anak, you never asked for one! Whopeee! one obstacle down!
When we arrived at Delgado hospital, you started to get nervous, but still you did'nt cry. Papa kept on talking and explaining that you are a big boy who is very brave and that can do it. Then we went inside the prep area for the surgery, you flinched when you saw the operating bed, but still you didn't cry. The anesthesiologist came and explained to Mama the concoction of drugs that she will give you. She was really kind anak and she explained very well every step that will happen. Papa and I liked her immediately.
Then Dr. Lucas came, like the anes, he explained the procedure very thoroughly. And he also said that there is a possibility that the tongue-tie might not be completely removed since your veins are already thick, non-stop bleeding might occur. We agreed with him anak and decided it was for the best.
Then the nurses came with the dextrose and syringe... you cried anak. You held Mama so tight, that I felt your pain. I wanted to cry as well anak. Papa looked away, he can't bare the sight of you in pain. I kept on whispering sorry to your ear anak, sorry for making you go through this, sorry that you are in pain. If I can take your place anak I would. But this is for your betterment anak. I must be strong.
The anesthesia took almost 30 minutes to take effect. Your eyes started acting funny, then your speech got slurry, and your movements very sluggish. I thought you'd look funny anak, but it was a no laughing matter at all. Papa and I can feel you fighting the anesthesia. You kept on calling my name, I held your hand, but seem you were so far away. I cried anak, 'nakakatakot pala' watching you 'disappear' under the anesthesia. I hugged and kissed you one last time before you were wheeled in the operating room. Papa and I held our own prayers for your quick and successful surgery.
After about 40 minutes, nurse called us, the surgery was done! It was a success, but you still had to stay in the recovery room until the anesthesia wore off. Again I can see you fighting off the anesthesia. You kept on sitting up when clearly you can't. Your legs kept on shooting up and sideways in the effort to get up. You looked at the dextrose and insisted it was elephant, while you called the dextrose stand "Papa". lol. Yes, Mama is laughing now anak, because I'm just happy and thankful that the surgery went well.
Papa and I are so proud of you anak. You truly are a Big Brave Boy, and we thank the Lord for the success of your surgery.

Happy New Year!
Yey! Happy New Year! I miss my side of the family, that I'm just so happy and thrilled to be spending the New Year with them. Cooking for them is just one of my ways of showing how much I truly love them.
I had a menu in mind but since my siblings are picky eaters, I made their fave dishes -- oven roasted and deep fat fried. lol.

Breaded Dory with Honey Mustard Sauce and Cheesy Baked Macaroni
Cheese Stuffed Potato Croquettes and Oven Roasted Chicken
After a rather filling Media Noche, the family had our usual Christmas shots.
Joaquin with his makulit facial expressions. He does this when he had too much sugar. lol.
But my fave of all...
Thank you Lord for another year! May we always, always be this happy together.
